I felt really bad on Thursday so I didn’t bother with a post.  I went to bed at 8:30 and slept straight through until my alarm went off Friday morning.  I felt alot better Friday.  I went to work then came home and hung out until Fipp came.

Fipp and I hung out around Charlotte all day Saturday and Sunday.  We checked out the new iPhone at the Apple store.  I am considering a switch to a smart phone when my current wireless contract is up, so this was more of a recon.  I am also looking at the Android phones that run the Google platform.  They’re sort of the same thing, it’s just a matter of which phone best meets my needs and waiting to see if Verizon will go through with their LTE upgrade.  We then ran some other errands, like shoe shopping for Fipp.  We had J over for diner and watched a movie as well.  It was good catching up with him and getting to hang out.  J and I might go see a movie later in the week depending on how I’m feeling and his work schedule.  We also bought some books.  I got Black Hawk Down by Mark Bowden, Generation Kill by Evan Wright, and The Seige of Mecca by Yaroslav Trofimov.  All three will be excellent reads.

Today Fipp and I spent most of the day doing stuff around the house.  Filing papers, organizing, cleaning, grocery shopping and the like.  I read for a while also.  I enjoy having the down time to read for pleasure.  I am also interested in focusing my reading efforts while I am having my transplant on 2 or 3 topics and learning as much as I can about them.  I am considering the history of Afghanistan, the Banana Wars, and modern Iran as possible topics.  If anyone has suggestions for reading or ideas for other topics let me know.  Well Fipp and I are off to Outback for the Zagat survey’s “Best Steak.”  I didn’t do the IMAGE section.  Sorry.

  1. Carey,
I’m so glad you have Fipp and your friends to hang out with …they are the best. Hurricane Bill is giving us a little rain and some winds, cyclones, and tornadoes, ripping up trees and such. Gives people something to comment on that’s not the economy.
    LOVE you ,
    Aunt Ashley

  2. Hey!

Have you read Alfred Lansing’s book on Shackleton? “Endurance: Shackleton’s Incredible Voyage”

And its never too soon to delve into Shakespeare…

    More later.

  3. If you’re interested in the history and culture of Iran, the Shanahmeh (Persian Book of Kings) is an absolute must read. It’s long, however to understand modern Iran, reading certain excerpts from this are required.
