Euangelion!  (That’s Greek for good news and the root word of Gospel and Evangelist).   I got the Word from Duke.  I have 2 matches.  Duke will take care of the details of getting the marrow from the donors to me.  I am going to Duke on Sept. 9 for my pre-transplant testing.  I will return to work on Sept. 10 and then go back to Duke for the actual transplant on Sept. 19 or 26 depending on how quickly they can get the stuff.  I am so excited to get my transplant started.  I don’t know who the donor is or where they’re from.  Please register to be a bone marrow donor if you haven’t already.  If you’ve already signed up, thank you.  I am lucky to have a match in the registry.  Please give someone else the opportunity I’ve been given.  You can find a link to the National Marrow Donor Program by clicking on the link to the right.

So that is the big news of the day.  Work was uneventful.  I saw Inglorious Basterds with J this afternoon.  It was better than I expected.  Fipp is here so my plan for the weekend is to hang out.  I also learned that Joe Adruzzi of the Patriots is a survivor of Burkitt’s Lymphoma.  He was diagnosed in 2007 and had to leave the NFL, but is doing well now.  He has started the Joe Andruzzi Foundation to assist in raising money and awareness.  It’s a new charity but it looks like they’re getting off to a good start.  I added a link to their site and to the Jimmy Fund under WHAT CAN I DO.  Stay tuned f0r more updates later in the weekend.

  1. Yay!!!!! I am so happy for you I just can’t say…I’m all teary eyed and I don’t know if its because I am so energized that you got your donors or because I’m intimidated by the the process…a bit of both, I think. Recovery-what a wonderful word that can be. I want all the best for you, only the best…I will be thinking only healthy thoughts for you everyday. Got all your books lined up?
