I had a high fever yesterday and was extremely weak and fatigued.  My fever was 102, my pulse was very high, and my blood pressure was very low.  So I called the doc and they wanted me to come in and get some fluids and medicines.  They drew lots of blood for cultures and started me on Vancomycin again.  They think one of my infections from when I was in the hospital is trying to make a comeback.  I am glad they are being very aggressive in going after it.  I was in the doctor’s all day yesterday.  I woke up this morning and felt much better, not anywhere near 100% but better.  I had to go back to the doc’s today for a scheduled Remicade transfusion.  When I got there, they didn’t want to give me the Remicade because it suppresses the immune system and they don’t want to suppress my system any more if there is an infection going on.  They did administer my Vancomycin, which I will need everyday until the course of treatment is finished.  I got out of the office about 1 and came home.  I went on a short walk, did my laundry, played guitar, and packed for my trip to Duke tomorrow.  I will be in Durham until Friday.  I made arrangements to get my new meds there for tomorrow and Friday, so I won’t miss a dose.  I am glad to be going to Duke and would like to hear their take on everything.  I probably won’t get a chance to update until the end of the week.
