I am still in the hospital. On Sunday they began me on clear liquids. I get to drink tea, broth, water, popsicles and Jello. Yum yum; so tasty and filling. Needless to say I am starving. I had a dream about Burger King last night. It was delicious. I continue to make improvement. It is clear that being on all my medication via IV is the way to go for me right now. Unfortunately, there are so many meds and they are administered until 1 or 2 am so getting them outpatient is impossible right now. I also need to be eased back into food. Tomorrow or the next day I will get to eat some bread or mashed potatoes or something equally bland and boring. What I wouldn’t give to have a big pizza or better yet, Allen and Sons BBQ. My diarrhea has slowed both in volume and frequency. (I know that’s sort of a gross detail, but if I ever write a book, this blog is going to be one of the major sources of info and it helps to document as much a possible.) I think this gut rest was much-needed and the pain of starving my self and being teased 3 times a day with broth and Jello should be worth it. I continue to look for an unfurnished apartment here in Durham for when I get out. I’ve found a number of possibilities, some of which I’ve been to and feel safe getting sight unseen.
Well the Red Sox just beat the Yankees at Fenway. They made a great 5-1 comeback in the 5th to tie and scored 2 more in the 7th to pull ahead. But the point is it’s way past my bed time and I need my beauty sleep.

Miss you already & I had so much fun with you (even though we were in the hospital, duh) this past weekend! I’m glad we were able to get you stockpiled with treats for all the eating you will be doing in the future. Love you 🙂
yo man, i guess it was crazy up there last night and today with the Duke victory. did everyone at the hospital give a big yell when they won? well, i hope you get out of the hospital soon. even with all this pollen i would much rather be outside than in. who doesnt love this warm weather? take care.
I am not really sure how I found yoru this blog but I am glad I did. I want to wish you the best of luck in your recovery. My husband is a retired police officer here in Massachusetts and we too are red sox fans. We have children about your age (a little older ). Your postings touched something in me and I wanted to responed. I am a stage II breast cancer survivor. I had a full year of aggressive chemo and know a little of what you are going through. There were times I thought I would die….I didn’t thankfully. Hang in there. Sometimes the treatment feels is worse than the cancer. Here I sit 17 years later completely healthy. You will be too. I have several friends that have travelled the same road that you are on, they are alive and healthy…..My husband and I enjoyed your pictures. Our thought and good energy are heading your way.
